The Antidote for Materialism

The United States is the greatest country in the world and provides tremendous opportunities for people to make a contribution and be compensated well for it.

As a result, we live in a stuff-laden world, and there is just about everything available for every need… and beyond. What I mean is that for most, the point has long since passed the mile marker for needs and many are chasing the ever-elusive wants.

I love America and our entrepreneurial spirit that affords anyone the opportunity to be in business… anyone willing to take a risk… and find a need (or a want) that hasn’t been fulfilled or can be fulfilled more effectively.

However, this wealthy time we live in can produce the false message that stuff equals happiness. A big trap!

The first Christmas in your memory proved this.

By the afternoon, the I-can’t-live-without-this stuff is often left on the floor as you run through the backyard playing with sticks.

The danger in all this is materialism.

Yet the antidote is what great charities offer to folks… to give back. Giving back is a great antidote to materialism.
