The Starting Point to Giving
Dr. Stephen R. Covey’s best selling book, The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People, first published in 1989, has sold more than 25 million copies in 38 languages worldwide. It remains one of the best selling nonfiction business books.
One of the habits Covey recommends is to begin with the end in mind.
Strategic giving is no different… and having a vision for your giving will create and sustain giving momentum.
A great tool for strategic giving is to write a Giving Vision.
First, define the ultimate outcome and impact you want your giving to have. Then, describe it in as much detail as you can.
Next, share it with the people you care about and the non-profits you want to impact.
Then, examine your giving from time to time to ensure you are on track with your giving.
Finally, don’t forget to celebrate!
Quote:
“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight but no vision.”
– Helen Keller
