Kids are notorious for saying to their parents, “I need…”. However, rarely is it a true “need.”
For the most part we have everything we need and almost everything we truly want.
Don’t get me wrong- I love America and our entrepreneurial spirit that affords anyone the opportunity to do the work they want to do and receive a financial reward for the risk they take.
However, this wealthy time we live in can produce the false message that stuff equals happiness. A big trap!
The first Christmas in your memory proved this.
By the afternoon, the I-can’t-live-without-this stuff is often left on the floor as you run through the backyard playing with sticks and building forts with the boxes.
Giving back is a great antidote to materialism.
Challenge yourself and your donors this year to give just a little bit more. It is that little bit more of giving, instead of getting – that will provide multiples of joy.
