A Hand Up, Not a Hand Out
Many kids today can’t see the true needs of others.
For those who have grown up in a middle-class home and country, it’s hard to imagine what it would be like to be neglected, forgotten, and gone without.
A trip to some parts of the world, or simply a trip to another part of the city, can reveal those who have been left out from no fault of their own.
When I recently took my daughter, Avery Kate, along with some other fathers and their children, to serve in Uganda, it was an eye opening experience as we gave the boys and families a hand up, not a hand out.
It also opened my daughter’s eyes and opportunities in our own city to continue doing more of the same.
These kinds of trips remind us of how blessed we are but also the opportunities all around us to serve others.
A hand up… not a hand out.
Remind your donors about the hand out you are providing, one which they are involved in making happen!
