You have been made “for such a time as this”
Have you ever wondered ‘why me of all people have I been give the position and resources to have the influence I have or could have?’
Long ago, a Jewish woman Esther became the Queen of Persia. Unaware of her Jewish heritage, King Ahasuerus chose her as his queen at a time when the Persians controlled most of the known world.
Later she learned that a wicked man, Haman, requested that the king enact a law that would give citizens the right to kill all Jews.
Esther’s uncle, Mordecai, came to see her to make her aware of the situation. He told Esther that she was the only one who could save her people with this warning:
“Don’t think for a moment that because you’re in the palace you will escape when all other Jew are killed. If you keep quiet at a time like this, deliverance and relief for the Jews will arise from some other place, but you and your relatives will die. Who knows if perhaps you were made queen for just such a time as this?”
That was Mordecai’s challenge – and it has resonated through the ages, even today.
