Of course, you and your family can enjoy yourselves while celebrating Independence Day in your backyard. But, wouldn’t it be all the more exciting to attend the July 4th Fireworks and Festivities in Wills Park? (After all, their fireworks will be infinitely more spectacular—and you won’t have to worry about anyone losing an arm by the personal variety). In addition to stunning fireworks, the City of Alpharetta Recreation and Parks Department will offer an array of entertaining, family-friendly activities: free “inflatables” for kids from 4-8pm. behind the Alpharetta Community Center, food vendors providing traditional summer fare (burgers, hot dogs, barbeque, fries, ice cream, frozen lemonade, and beyond) from 4-9pm., and a live country and rock concert by a local band from 7-9pm. The fireworks will commence at dusk. (While some activities may have to be postponed or canceled if there is inclement weather, the fireworks will dazzle in spite of any bad weather.)
A few caveats to the event: Wills Park is tobacco- and alcohol-free due to city ordinance. Also, charcoal and non-permitted commercial grills are not allowed. Finally, personal fireworks are not forbidden in the park (for everyone’s safety). The City of Alpharetta Department of Public Safety will have officials patrolling the park to ensure this.
Parking is available at and near Wills Park, with handicap parking offered by Wacky World Playground. When the parking lots at/near Wills Park fill, Old Milton Parkway will close.
